If a site promises “paste board URL, get 200 originals instantly,” treat it carefully. Many of those tools scrape thumbnails, break often, or ask for risky permissions. We would rather be clear about what works now.

- A board cover image is not a package of every pin on the board.
- The board grid uses tiny thumbnails. Always download from the pin detail page.
- Video-heavy boards should use the video or Reels tools when you need MP4 files.

What a Pinterest board downloader can and cannot do
A board is a collection of pin IDs plus titles, notes, and section labels. The media files live on each pin. To back up a board well, you need those pin files, not a screenshot of the grid.
On the web, Pinterest Video Downloader resolves one pin at a time because that is the reliable unit of media. Board HTML scrapes are fragile and often return low-resolution thumbnails.
Board sections and local organization
Sections such as “Ceremony” and “Reception” under a wedding board are grouping tools. Each pin still has its own URL.
When you archive, create matching folders on your computer. Work section by section so your offline library mirrors the board structure.
Creators backing up vs collectors saving inspiration
Creators exporting their own published pins have the clearest rights case. Collectors saving public inspiration for personal reference is common, but republishing whole boards commercially is a copyright risk.
Pinterest Video Downloader is not a tool for packaging boards into spam blogs or resale packs.
Images, GIFs, and videos on the same board
Many boards mix photos, loops, and clips. Paste each pin here or on the matching format page. The resolver follows what that pin contains.
For large archives, keep a simple list of pin URLs as you go. That list becomes useful again when bulk export arrives.

The planned Pinterest Video Downloader browser extension will help you export from a public board you can already browse, with progress you can see and the same quality labels used on the website.

Safer than password-based board scrapers
Desktop tools that ask for your Pinterest password are a security risk. We will not take that approach.
Manual pin-by-pin download is slower, but you know exactly what you saved and at what quality.

Can I download someone else’s public board?
Pin by pin, for personal reference, yes. Respect copyright before you republish anything.
Does Pinterest offer an official board export?
Pinterest does not offer a simple official bulk export for arbitrary boards. Saving pins to your account is not the same as downloading files.
How do I back up a moodboard faster?
Open several pins in tabs, copy each URL, and paste them one after another. The extension will speed this up later.
Are section names saved into filenames?
Not automatically today. Name your local folders yourself.
Will the extension need my Pinterest password?
No. It will work on public board pages you can already browse.
Is the board downloader free?
Single-pin download is free now. Extension pricing for bulk export is not decided yet.
